Sebagai penyegar ingatan, di bagian akhir dari film pertama, Anda tentu ingat dengan Elise (Lin Shaye) dan tim pemburu hantunya, Tucker dan Specs (Angus Sampson & Leigh Whannell). Mereka membantu Josh Lambert (Patrick Wilson) ke dunia astral untuk menjemput anaknya Dalton (Ty Simpkins) yang terjebak untuk kembali. Sementara sang anak berada dalam kondisi koma di dunia nyata.

Kemudian sebuah rahasia terungkap. Dalton ternyata memiliki keistimewaan karena warisan dari Josh. Meskipun berhasil membawa sang anak kembali, ternyata Josh diikuti oleh wanita tua yang menakutkan.


Chapter 2

Nah, sekarang diceritakan dalam Insidious 2 keluarga Josh Lambert sudah mulai hidup normal. Mereka pindah ke rumah Lorraine, ibu Josh.

Awalnya semua mulai berjalan normal. Josh mengumumkan bahwa masa lalu adalah masa lalu dan sekarang mereka aman. Josh juga sudah punya adik baru. Tapi semuanya berubah saat lagu pengantar tidur menakutkan, mengalun sendiri. Benda mati bergerak, dan banyak lagi. Ternyata hantu wanita tua yang muncul di akhir film pertama masih mengikuti mereka.

Di satu adegan digambarkan saat Lorraine masuk ke kamar Dalton, cucunya bilang ia diikuti hantu wanita tua. Kemudian sang nenek ke kamar mandi. Tiba-tiba pintu terkunci dan hantu yang mengikutinya muncul. Aneh, ketika pintu kamar mandi kembali normal, Josh sudah berdiri di depannya dan bilang semua baik-baik saja.

Renai, istri Josh paling sering diganggu oleh hantu wanita tua yang sama. Misalnya saat ia yang dilempar ke masa lalu, abad pertengahan dan diserang oleh wanita tua tadi. Bayinya juga terancam oleh si wanita tua.

Tucker dan Specs akhirnya dipanggil lagi. Mereka awalnya menolak karena tak sanggup menghadapi serangan sang hantu, apalagi Elise sudah mati. Lorraine pun meminta agar dua paranormal ini melakukan ritual memanggil roh guna menghadirkan Elise.

Dari pengakuan roh Elise, ia mengungkap hantu wanita tua yang membunuhnya. Mereka ditunjukkan tentang rumah sakit tua yang terbengkalai. Dulu, Lorraine pernah bekerja di sini.
